2026-2027 HCA Health & Wellness Policy
The intention of this policy is to provide a healthy and safe environment for our families. Some illnesses and situations will require families to miss a day of co-op to prevent the spread of infection to other families and to allow the sick person time to rest, recover and be treated for their illness. In order to help keep our families healthy, Heritage Creative Arts requires adherence to the guidelines of this policy.
If you or your family are experiencing any of the symptoms below, the whole family should not attend HCA until feeling well (fever free and symptom improved for 24 hours prior to co-op):
-Fever (100.4 or higher) or chills
-Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
-Severe fatigue
-Muscle or body aches combined with headaches
-New loss of taste or smell
-Sore throat
-Persistent cough
-Severe congestion or runny nose
-Nausea or vomiting
-Diarrhea
Additional symptoms which will keep you and your family home:
Open sores or weeping wounds
Head lice, pinkeye, ringworm, impetigo
Exposed to Fifth's disease (viral rash usually appearing on the face and is spread through airborne symptoms)
Lethargic behavior
Any symptom where you or your family members have been diagnosed and/or recognized as highly contagious illnesses such as COVID-19, pink eye, the stomach bug, strep throat, the Flu, chicken pox, etc. agree not to attend or send family members to Heritage Creative Arts until at least 24 hours after wellness is attained (fever free & symptoms improved).
Procedure if a child becomes sick at co-op:
Parent will be notified and student will be cared for by an adult. Parents will be asked to take child and other family members home for the day.
Hand Washing & Respiratory Etiquette:
Please encourage your family to use proper hand washing and sneezing/coughing etiquette during the co-op day. We do provide hand sanitizer in each class and teachers/assistants of younger students will assist with hand washings in bathrooms.
Cleaning/Sanitizing:
We will sanitize tables, chairs and any other high touch items between class periods. This will be done with the help of the parent aide in the classroom.
We appreciate your thoughtfulness to help us contain contagious illnesses and not spread them to other children/families.
By signing below, you are agreeing to adhere to our health and wellness policy.
*Note: The HCA Board reserves the right to change/update this policy as needed.
